WIC Women Infants and Children Program


Description

The Sacramento County WIC program helps pregnant women, new moms, and young children eat well, stay healthy, and be active. With WIC you receive

  • Free, healthy foods
  • Nutrition education for you and your family
  • Referrals to community services
  • Information and support for breastfeeding

Our Lactation Consultants and Breastfeeding Peer Counselors are here to help all new moms and babies get nursing off to a great start. 


To Qualify

​Be in a category served by WIC:
 
  • Pregnant now or within the last six months
  • Have a child under the age of 5 years

Be income-eligible

If you are eligible for Medi-Cal, CalWORKS, or Food Stamps, you meet the income eligibility for WIC.

How to apply for WIC

Call us at 916-876-5000.  We’ll give you an appointment and directions to the nearest WIC office. We’ll send you the enrollment forms and let you know what to bring to your first appointment, such as proof of your address and income.
 
You have two options for your first appointment to enroll on WIC.
 
  • You can attend an informational class at the WIC office OR
  • You can watch the Welcome to WIC video on your home computer before you come to your appointment. Let us know if you've watched the video so we can schedule the right appointment.
